WHO AM I?
I am Rung Button, passionate about lots of things, specially photography. Photography has become a lifestyle, a passion, all-absorbing. My strange name is because I am originally from Norway and my real name "Ragnhild" is difficult to pronounce for anyone not speaking Norwegian so "Rung" is my nick-name. After a life-long career in tourism I now devote most of my time to photography which is what I love doing.
WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO I DO?
Rather ask - what kind of photography DON'T I do. I love the way photographs reveal details which we often don't notice in real life. The balance between light and shadow. Shapes, lines, contours, textures.
Nature and everything in it, is magnificent! Instead of showing you the scene as it is (ie a “record shot”), I often show you my interpretation. What did the scene look like when I shot it, what did it resemble. How was the light – was it dark and gloomy or was it bright and cheerful. What did the scene make me feel? Sad? Happy? Relaxed? Intrigued?
Travel is in my blood and travel photography is also close to my heart. Showing people and places I visit is a continuous process.
AND.....
I teach students in basic photography skills as well as editing in Lightroom Classic. This is done on a one-on-one basis either face to face or on a virtual platform.
Sometimes I also get commissioned to photograph families or individual portraits, although this is not my main focus with my photography I love interacting with people and finding out what makes them tick. And how I can bring out their personalities in photographs.
